Welcome & About

You may be ready to start emergency planning because you caught a recent episode of Doomsday Preppers and you are completely freaked out. You may be here because you are looking for practical tips on ways to prep for an emergency. Whatever the reason you made your way here, I am glad you did.

I decided to start this blog in response to the fear I felt after submitting myself to a day long marathon of Doomsday Preppers. I was both equal parts fascinated and freaked out by these hard core preppers. When I stripped away the sensationalism, I found that many of their theories made a convoluted sort of sense in my head.

SimplyPreparing.com is a survival tips and information blog for family disaster and emergency preparedness. The intent of this site is to provide helpful strategies for moms in preparing her family for all types of emergencies to enhance peace of mind and a sense of security.

We do accept various forms of advertising

I would be more than happy to talk with any potential site sponsors via email: preparedmom AT simplypreparing DOT com

More Of My Thoughts On Emergency Planning from The Prepared Mom

I’m not a nutcase (really, the psychiatrist said so).

I don’t subscribe to conspiracy theories (unless you count Starbucks is taking over the world).

I am not digging spider holes in my yard (but my dog might be).

I don’t have a self sustaining compound (fact is I am too lazy).

I don’t have have storage containers buried in my backyard (my yard could maybe fit a few rubbermaid containers).

I am a mom (And I do really love my family).

I do take on the responsibility of taking care of my family and that includes being prepared for emergencies of all types.

I do think there are emergency scenarios that could take out power grids and potable water supplies for extended periods of time.

I am not a subscriber to TEOTWAWKI (The End of the World As We Know It) theories (some may call that naive).

I don’t like the saying SHTF (Sh** Hits The Fan).  But sometimes I do.

I do think it is the responsibility of every family to be able to take care of themselves without relying on outside help for at least a few weeks.

I do like the term Zombies (meaning people not prepared to take care of themselves that will not know what to do for their families).

I do hope more people start preparing to avoid becoming a zombie family (especially my friends and neighbors).

I do think most people want to know how to be prepared but are either frightened or completely overwhelmed (and lets face it, shows like Doomsday Preppers make us all look like crazies).

This isn’t meant to be a hard-core prepping site. The intended audience is not someone looking to camouflage a 40 foot trailer. The site is meant for families just getting started on this journey.

I hope I can share some simple strategies to help you avoid ZombieLand and feel a little safer knowing you are prepared for what comes your way.
