DIY Body Spray With Stress Away Essential Oil Blend

I love a good DIY Body Spray with essential oils.  But, it’s got to have a fragrance that lasts.  And It can’t be drying.   Finally, if you don’t want to have to continuously shake the bottle before I use it, I have a couple of solutions.   All of this in an DIY Body Spray , you may ask?   Absolutely.

DIY Body Spray Recipe

Witch Hazel. Water. Vodka. Oh, MY!

I prefer to keep it easy and use only vodka in my body sprays. I like how quickly vodka evaporates, and I like how vodka helps preserve my essentials longer than water or witch hazel.  If you are worried about the expense of using all EVERCLEAR, substitute 1/3 distilled water for 1/3 of the EVERCLEAR.

I’m giving these to my son’s Teacher’s and Therapists for an at the end of the school year gift.  I plan on making a card that says something like, “Wishing You A STRESS Free Summer AWAY From All Your Worries……”    Okay.  So the card is still a work in progress, but you get the idea.

Why I Add Glycerin To My DIY Body Spray

Glycerin helps to offset any potential drying effect from the EVERCLEAR used in this body spray recipe. It also helps the essential oil fragrance blend to last longer on your skin.  I use 1/3 in my body spray recipe.

3ml Disposable Essential Oil Pipettes

Spray Bottles    I used these gorgeous glass 1/3 ounce spritzer bottles. I absolutely LOVE them, and will be giving them as gifts. But they are a thinner GLASS that I would not carry in my purse.  You may want to go with an aluminum spray bottle, or a thicker glass spritzer bottle. Pay attention to how much your spray bottle holds, and adjust the recipe accordingly.

DIY Body Spray

The Method

The spray bottles that I used are 1/3 of an ounce.  I had 6 bottles, so that came to 2 Ounces of DIY Body Spray.   My ratio for body spray base is 2/3 EVERCLEAR and 1/3 Glycerin.  I usually just eyeball it, using the disposable pipettes to transfer the EVERCLEAR and Glycerin to the *this post contains affiliate links spray bottles.

Remember, if you would like, you can substitute 1/3 of your EVERCLEAR for distilled water.  Keep the glycerin amount the same.

Shake until everything is well blended….and you are ready to go!

Adding Polysorbate 20 To A DIY Body Spray

For those who like the idea of not having to  shake DIY body sprays before they use them, polysorbate 20 may be an option.

HOWEVER, the use of Polysorbate 20 means that your body spray will NO LONGER be considered ALL NATURAL.  The Polysorbate 20 emulsifies the essential oils, glycerin and vodka so that shaking isn’t required.  FYI, this Polysorbate 20 is Food Grade and Kosher.

Your opinion may differ and that’s terrific, feel free to leave it out and go all natural.    The glycerin may act as a bit of an emulsifier too.

My goal here is to share ideas, and then allow everyone to choose what best fits themselves and their customer base.   If you have ideas on how to help emulsify the essential oils with the EVERCLEAR, please share in the comment section!

If it makes any difference, I opt for a Polysobate 20 free body spray as I’m working to remove the toxic load from my home.

The usual ratio for DIY Body Sprays is 1 drop of Polysorbate 20 to 1 drop essential oil.  However, I’ve gotten away with about half of that for customers that preferred me to add it.

If you want to mix your Polysorbate 20 and Essential Oils together first and then stir until the solution is no longer cloudy, that is the usual protocol.  Luckily, the Stress Away essential oil doesn’t cause any cloudiness, so you could just add  them straight to the spray bottle.

PRO TIP: Right now I am running a special on your choice of a Young Living Premium Starter Kit.  I’ll refund you $25.00 in the form of an Amazon Gift Card or PayPal when your order your kit from me!

How To Use Your Focusing Roller Ball Blend

In conclusion,  my favorite place to roll this blend in on the back of my neck. Because the pores there contain sebum, it’s a great place for the essential oils to be able to absorb. Also, I  get the olfactory benefits of this focusing roller ball blend there too!

Homemade Beeswax and Honey Lip Balm

Beeswax and Honey Lip Balm

Pro Tip: I change up the essential oils in this beeswax and honey lip balm all the time. Peppermint and Lavender is another fun blend to use!

What Is Kokum Butter?

*this post contains affiliate links Raw Kokum butter is a hard, crumbly butter that melts well.  Unlike Cocoa Butter, Kokum has no scent.  Because many people find Coconut Oil to be drying, I use Kokum butter in this recipe.  Furthermore, I like Kokum’s moisturizing abilities even better than Shea Butter or Coco Butter.

Ingredients For Beeswax and Honey Lip Balm

*this post contains affiliate links

2 Tablespoons Beeswax

1 Tablespoon Organic Coconut Oil

1 Tablespoon Organic Raw Kokum Butter

1 Teaspoon Honey   I like to jazz mine up with some DIY   Manuka  Honey!

6 Drops Peppermint Essential Oil

3 Drops Rosemary Essential Oil

8-10  Lip Balm Tubes

* I doubled this recipe to fill my large 2 ounce  tin and three 5.5 ml  lip balm tubes.

The Method

1. First, measure your beeswax, coconut oil, and mango butter into a glass or metal container.  I LOVE this melting pot that allowing me to pour right from it.

2. Heat the water until simmering, stirring until everything is melted.  Don’t allow any water to get into the oil and butter mixture.

Melting pot for beeswax and honey lip balm

3. Next, remove the pan and add in the essential oils and honey.  Stir.

4. Finally, add the  liquid lip balm mixture into your containers.  To help keep the honey incorporated evenly throughout the mixture, you’ll need to stir and pour,  stir and pour.

Beeswax and Honey Lip Balm

Pro Tip: To prevent the ‘divots’ in the top of your tubes and metal containers, don’t pour until your mixture has cooled down some.   The cooler the mixture the less divots, or indentations at the top of your containers.

Also, you can  fill the  mixture above the line for the container, until it forms a rounded top without pouring over.

So, there you have it, once your Honey and Beeswax Lip Balms cool to room temperature, they are ready to us!

melted lip balm ingredients

Pro Tip:  Sometimes when I use this combination of oils and butters, I get these little dots that look like they won’t melt all the way.  Since they wind up incorporating into the lip balm as it cools, there’s nothing to worry about.

DIY Raspberry Lemonade Lip Balm

Making your own lip balm is easy.  What’s hard is deciding what kind of lip balm to make.  Today I’m combining two of my favorite things, lemon essential oil, and freeze dried raspberries into a coconut oil and beeswax lip balm that is not just moisturizing but provides a little bit of summer time flavor too.  You’re going to love this Raspberry Lemonade Lip Balm!

The taste of DIY Raspberry Lemonade Lip Balm comes from freeze dried raspberries and lemon essential oil. If you are a regular around here you already know I order Young Living Essential Oils only!

1/3 Cup Freeze Dried Raspberries

2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil

1.5 Tablespoons Grated Beeswax or Beeswax Pellets (If you would like you lip balm to be softer, use only 1 Tablespoon Grated Beeswax)

3 Drops Lemon Essential Oil

Lip Balm Tubes

PRO TIP:  Mix it up!  Use Freeze Dried Blueberries or Strawberries or even Pineapple  instead of Raspberries!

Raspberry Lemonade Lip Balm The Method

I used my mortar and pestle to crush the raspberries.  Afterwards, the crushed raspberries were put into a strainer and the seeds were separated from the raspberry powder.

Raspberry Lemonade Lip Balm

Melt the coconut oil and beeswax.  I used  my *this post contains affiliate links stainless steel melting pot over a pan of hot water. Seriously folks, these little beauties are worth the money.  You can pour straight from the melting pot into the tubes, and clean up consisted of wiping it out with a paper towel!

double boiler

Next, add in the sifted raspberry powder and if you like, about a 1/4 of a teaspoon of sugar.  Stir this in well over the hot water, until sugar is melted.

Lip Balm Ingredients

Finally, pour melted lip balm into containers.

Because this lip balm doesn’t contain an emulsifier, the raspberry powder will want to settle to the bottom of your lip balm tube as it cools.  I poured my lip balm a little bit cooler than I usually do to allow it to set up quicker.

Pouring at a cooler temperature helped to keep the raspberry powder suspended better.  I just rewarmed my lip balm solution as needed.

Pro Tip: To get that clean, professional look to lip balm tubes, over pour your tubes just a bit.
