How To Store Coffee Plus a Giveaway *closed*!

November 27, 2012 By Prepared Mom

Coffee Beans should be a part of your prepping supplies.

I love helping to support small family businesses and I love coffee so when a friend told me about Brown & Jenkins, a small, family owned coffee roaster in Vermont I was more than intrigued. And then I found out that they are fans of the prepper movement, I … [Read more...] about How To Store Coffee Plus a Giveaway *closed*!

How to Dehydrate Apples

apple on peeler/slicer/corer

Dehydrating food is a skill that all preppers should master and dehydrated apples are probably the easiest food to learn with.  But I would be seriously remiss in letting anyone think that I store dehydrated apples as long term food storage in this house. Truth is, the second my kids see this bag on the counter they will be gone. The work involved used to make the fact that … [Read more...] about How to Dehydrate Apples

Survival Mom Book by Lisa Bedford

I am a big believer in that the first investment a prepper should make is a survival library. I was lucky enough that one of the first survival books I picked up was Survival Mom by Lisa Bedford. Doomsday Preppers had just started airing and in my panic mode, Lisa seemed like a friendly face to turn to.I devoured her blog, The Survival Mom in just days and then quickly ordered … [Read more...] about Contest: Win a Copy of Survival Mom

Coffee Beans should be a part of your prepping supplies.

Without my coffee I will be a zombie pretty quick! Are you used to grabbing your morning cup of Joe? You may want to include a way to have your morning coffee then! Why Worry About Preparing?

Preparedness for a disaster makes a lot of sense. With recent and predicted events like Hurricane Sandy, The Colorado Wildfires, Fiscal Cliffs, and rising food and gas costs just in 2012 there is no denying that things are changing in our world. Whether or not you believe "The End of the World As We Know It" is near there are plenty of everyday things to worry about: loss of a job, health emergency, local weather events to name a few.

I find that I worry less about the big "what if's" out there the more emergency planning my family does to deal with the unexpected. I will share the survival tips and tricks I have learned while on this preparedness journey and hope that you join in with lots of comments. We all have a lot to learn from one another.

Now, lets get started prepping! Pick a post and start reading. At the end of every post the blog randomly selects three more survival posts for you to check out. Set aside 10 minutes a day to build your preppers knowledge base. We can never be done learning or prepping, right?
